Dome House

The reason I first looked into doodle is because I wanted a way to present ideas to clients informally. I design thin-shelled concrete domes exclusively. I need to get the curvature and perspective proper on the early sketches, so I don't freehand them, but I also don't want to imply to clients that the design is as precise (and therefore not open to change) as a proper CAD rendering might suggest. A doodle strikes just the right balance.

This dome doodle was created with a doodle of a hidden-line rendering using a modification of the Marker style.

Scale lineweights 1000%
Smooth poly angle 44
Extend lines 1 to 3
Doodle length 10 w/ 75%
Doodle width 2 w/ 25%

I copied a color rendering into GraphicsConverter. and changed the colors to Grayscale 4 and brightness to 75 to reduce it's impact. I copied the doodle into a non-overlapping part of the same GC file. With their Magic Pen tool, I could select the doodle lines and drag just them over the rendering to the right placement. A bit of pixel-by-pixel touch-up was necessary where the palm tree was covered by a doodle line. The result dresses up the cover of the prints so that the local building officials and contractors all know what the resulting structure is supposed to look like.
